Q:     What do you mean, “It’s a manager’s dream if you do it right?” What is “it”?

A:     IT is excellence. IT is a combination of flawless branding and technological innovation. IT is a rarity in today’s recessionary market. It is a luxury that has become a depleting value symptomatic of today’s economy.  The positive news is that we have good clients and business partners who care deeply about the inherent qualities of excellent design and technology solutions. Q:     What are the components of excellence?

A:     Being outstanding, or extremely good.  Mastery of logo design, for instance, produces the equivalent of a business brand with the actual valuation of a company.  Technological perfection makes an online or mobile brand synonymous with customer experience and thus, business value.


Q:     Who do you admire the most?  In other words, who exemplifies leadership excellence?

A.     The person I admire the most is Roshan Shah, CEO of Gloscon Solutions.  In my book, he is the number one Open Source developer, technology manager and entrepreneur advocate in the industry.

Q:     Compare the currencies of excellence from a decade ago.

A:     Exactly one decade ago, John Plummer, Roshan Shah’s counterpart, was Corning Incorporated’s IT Division Manager.  Corning ‘loaned’ John to Steuben, the great American luxury brand. When the Web project was green-lighted, I asked John, “What criteria will you use to judge our success?” He said, “Make our brand, design systems and customer experience as perfect as our crystal—in other words, make “IT” flawless.”
